Duster moves India’s position in Renault global map French carmaker may target over 1 lakh units from Chennai plant MUMBAI, DEC. 22:  India is now the 10th biggest market for French carmaker, Renault, ahead of the targeted date in end-2013. Sources told  Business Line  that the heady market response to the recently launched Duster SUV has played an important part in catapulting Renault India to this ranking. The crisis in Europe, which has seen a significant shrinkage in key markets, has also helped the cause. It is, therefore, “very likely” that India could even climb by another two positions during the course of 2013. At present, it is just behind Spain which has clearly seen better days. The momentum generated by the Duster could result in Renault targeting production of over one lakh units from its Chennai plant next year. This will also include other models such as the Pulse compact and Scala sedan. REVIVAL AGENDA In its third quarter re...
What Doomsday? We are still alive After the doomsday parties of 12.12.12, people celebrated the 'ending of the world' differently yesterday, with some meditating and some partying! According to an interpretation of the Mayan Calendar, there were rumours that the world would end yesterday. Here's an overview of the whole Doomsday drama: Why the hoopla? Another theory involved a 'polar shift', which means a reversal of the north and south magnetic poles. In reality NASA  scientists have concluded that 21st December will be nothing more than a normal December solstice. There is simply no scientific evidence to support any claims of an apocalypse on Earth on December 21, 2012. Mor...
NASA to turn asteroid into space station to orbit the Moon NASA scientists are planning to capture a 5,00,000 kg asteroid, relocate it and transform it into a space station for astronauts to refuel at on their way to Mars. It would be the first time a celestial object has ever been moved by humans, a media report said. The White House's Office of Science and technology will consider the $2.6 billion plan in the coming weeks as it prepares to set its space exploration agenda for the next decade. A feasibility report prepared by NASA and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) scientists outlined how they would go about capturing the asteroid. An 'asteroid capture capsule' would be attached to an old Atlas V rocket and directed the asteroid between the Earth and the Moon. Once close, the asteroid capsule would release a 50 ft diameter bag that wrap around the spinning rock using drawstrings, the paper said. The craft would then turn on its thrusters, ...
